Information About Chakras(People Who Know Only Please!)?

So this is partly about me and partly about a story. My friend and I were discussing lapis lazuli rings from Vampire Diaries, and we looked up what it does, and learned it had something to do with Chakras? (I think I spelled it wrong; forgive me if I did!) We think that we found out that there is 7 of them? We took a quiz and found that we both had our intuition and throat Chakras as the most open ones? In one of my stories as well, one of my characters is into this kind of things, but I’ve hardly got the experience to write about this. I’d love it if someone could explain to me how many of them there are, where each are located and what they are properly called, what each of them mean, and a kind of mineral/gem/something of that sort that inhances them. And how the whole Chakra business came to be. Thanks so much!
